Professor Dr. So Yoon Kim
Hello, distinguished colleagues and public health professionals,
It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you to the 56th Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) 2025 Conference here in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our esteemed hosts, Mae Fah Luang University, and the dedicated organizing team for their commitment to making this gathering possible.
The focus of public health has always been people—protecting lives, upholding dignity, and building a healthier future for all. But today, we find ourselves in a world where disruption is no longer an exception; it is the new reality. We are not only facing emerging infectious diseases but also the escalating impact of climate change, humanitarian crises, and the rapid transformation of healthcare through artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology. These changes challenge us in ways we have never experienced before.
Yet, disruption also brings opportunity. It forces us to rethink, adapt, and lead with both knowledge and compassion. In this evolving landscape, I hope that APACPH will continue to serve as a leading platform for discussion, collaboration, and bold action—guiding us toward solutions that are ethical, inclusive, and sustainable.
This vision aligns closely with this year’s theme: “Public Health Challenges in a Disruptive World.”
I encourage each of you to share your insights openly, challenge ideas bravely, and collaborate actively in order to shape a more resilient future for public health.
I look forward to meeting you all in Thailand for an inspiring and impactful experience.
President of the APACPH
Professor Dr. So Yoon Kim
